6 grief-ridden problems with choosing reliable packers and movers in India
The moving industry is unorganised. Sadly, over the last few years, there has been a rise in the number of fake packers and movers in India. Which means, you can easily get scammed when you move your home.
All this chaos has also made it difficult for customers to find trusted and reliable movers for home shifting.
To help you make the right choice, we’ve put together a list of the most common problems people face when hiring packers and movers in India, and how to deal with it.
1. Your movers and packers are not licensed
This is one of the most common problem customers face. They discover, often after signing the contract, that the movers they’ve hired are not licensed.
Can you really trust someone who doesn’t have a license to run their business?
Before you hire a moving company, always make sure they’re licensed. If you aren’t sure, ask. If you’re still unsure, hire someone else.
When moving home, you are handing over all your precious household articles to them. Don’t trust someone just because they ask you to. Do your research well.
2. Your packers and movers aren't accredited
Affiliations are proof that a company is reliable and can be trusted. This also guarantees quality service for customers.
For the moving business, look for afflictions like OMNI, FIDI, IAM, Worldwide ERC and BSI.
3. Your packers movers' website looks fake
If a moving company doesn’t care enough to invest in their website, do you really think they will be careful when transporting your household goods from one place to another?
There are several moving companies with flashy websites that look like a rainbow and have rubbish content. How can you trust them when nothing on their website makes any sense?
4. The movers do not have any customer testimonials
Customer testimonials are one of the best ways to judge a moving company. If customers who have used their services in the past have nice things to say about the movers, you can trust them with your move, too.
Usually, the movers you are hiring must have customer testimonials on their website. If they don’t, ask them for for references. Testimonials are important because they give you a fair idea of the kind of service you will be getting.
5. The packers are new and haven’t handled a move like yours before
If a moving company is new, has good reviews and has handled moves similar to yours, it is okay to trust them. But if you are planning to move from one end of the country to the other and all they’re experienced in is moving within the same city, you should think again.
Intercity moves aren’t only about moving your goods from here to there. There might be paperwork involved.
If your movers has never handled a move similar to yours, it’d be wise to look elsewhere. Moving home isn’t easy. Why make it worse by hiring inexperienced movers?
6. The packers have terrible reviews online
Look at sites like Mouthshut. Or check out reviews of the moving company on Google or Facebook. Do they have a lot of positive reviews? Are past customers complaining about loss, damage and delayed delivery?
Too many negative reviews are a clear sign that the moving company should be avoided. What’s also important is how they respond to negative feedback. Have they replied to the query and offered to help? Or simply passed the blame on the customer? No reply is also not a good sign.
Not many moving companies realise that their behaviour online is a direct reflection of the kind of service they provide offline. If they are helpful and look trustworthy, they usually do a good job when moving your home. If they look fake and are unhelpful to customers online, you shouldn’t be surprised if they don’t show up on time on the moving day.
